Ursula Vogt
studied recorder as her major in Berlin, Frankfurt, and Rotterdam with Prof. Dr. Michael Schneider and Prof. Han Tol. She completed her studies in Frankfurt with the State Music Teacher Examination and the Artistic Maturity Examination, and in Rotterdam with the Music Teacher Diploma. She attended master classes with Kees Boeke, Walter van Hauwe, Matthias Weilenmann, and Prof. Gerhard Braun.
She gained extensive teaching experience with students of all ages and levels in individual and group lessons as well as ensemble direction at the music schools in Rüsselsheim, Kelkheim, Frankfurt, Oberursel and Schwalbach.
In addition to the recorder, Ursula Vogt is intensively involved with historical bassoons (dulcian, baroque, and classical bassoon; studied in Frankfurt with Christian Beuse) and participates in numerous early music ensembles. She has performed with the Bach Orchestra Mainz under Ralf Otto, the Baroque Orchestra L'Arpa Festante Munich, the Neumeyer Consort, the Telemann Orchestra Frankfurt, Les Favorites Rastatt, and Capella Augustina, among others. She has also participated in various CD productions and radio recordings.
Ursula Vogt has been teaching at the Büdingen Music and Art School since 2009 and currently heads the recorder group at the Büdingen City School.
A few more words about the recorder, which still has the image of being an instrument for beginners: This instrument can also be learned “properly” and studied as a major subject at almost all music colleges.
Since Frans Brüggen's legendary revival of the recorder in the 1960s and 1970s, there have been enormous developments in playing technique, instrument making, and even composition—a return to historical sources, the reconstruction of historical instruments, new compositions of avant-garde works, and the development of modern instruments. Today, the recorder is naturally also used in rock and pop music.
To get an idea of the “modern” recorder, a short foray through “YouTube” would be recommended: e.g.: Wildes Holz (Jazz Rock Pop) , Spark (Crossover Classical-Folk-Pop) , Maurice Steger (“Paganini of the recorder”, “Musician of the Year 2015”), Flautando Cologne , Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet, Flanders Recorder Quartet, Han Tol, Ensemble Red Priest, Dorothee Oberlinger , Gabor Vosteen (flute clown, “The Fluteman Show”)
